Sadly no the lowest psn card is 10 dollars.
You have to sync it. There's a tiny round white button on the console next to the memory port on the front and should be one on the controller next to the trigger. Turn on the Xbox and the controller, hit the sync button on the console and then on the controller. The rings on the console and controller will go in a circular motion and when finished syncing the light in quadrant 1 will stay lit.
