I purchased a Lyman 222 FL die some years ago and never used it. Instead of FL sizing I went with only neck sizing so the die just sat on the shelf. Recently I decided to FL size and took out the die to use. Problem .. the die is undersized and will not accept fired brass or virgin brass. Obviously QC missed this one as it should never have left the factory. I called Lyman and asked if they could hone this die out to spec so it can be used. The answer was no, our production methods have changed so we can't do it. Hhmmm, let's see ... big production facility probably has a metal lathe so a tech could hone it out in a couple of minutes. Nope. Another viable solution would be to offer the customer an opportunity to exchange the defective die for a new one (and possibly pay a reasonable fee for the exchange plus postage). This was not offered. I presently have 5 sets of Lyman dies plus other Lyman products but will not purchase any more if this is the way they stand behind their products. It would have been so easy to keep a customer happy but they chose not to be helpful.

After purchasing a reloading dye I noticed that the shell holder wasn't milled out. Lyman customer service was very prompt In sending a replacement.
