Very educational regarding the way they are keeping the structure unmodernized yet still holding the traditional building elements preserved. Loved seeing the “bare bones” of this historic treasure.

I really appreciate the frank look back at the history of slavery and the work the foundation is doing to maintain the house as a time capsule of history for all to enjoy and learn. Did the guided tour and well worth the money, but the audio tour is great if you want to save some money or have detailed questions. To anyone who doesn't realize, The home is no longer owned by the family and is owned by a charitable foundation to preserve and teach history. The family had to sell it to them or lose the history to vandalism. If you hate slavery and want to support the freedom of all people, you will enjoy taking time to visit and patronage this plantation. *Special note, if you want to really see history and like my review look at the brick in the dining room behind the false door, you can see fingerprints on a brick made by a small child who was probably a slave. Preserved for all these generations.

One of very few surviving plantation homes in the area post civil war period. Took the audio tour rather than a guided one which was great as you can wander at your own pace and listen to the guide, pausing her when you want to stay in one area a little longer. Having some info is a must though, to understand what went on in and around the estate and the architecture of the building. Staff were very friendly and informative too.
