I work for the State of Michigan. During this particular week, I had business at a facility close to the Sleep Inn Suites in Milan, Michigan. I arrived at check in time on 3/20/2022. I had a reservation already lined up and had my confirmation number. There were two women working at this desk at this time. It was aroun 3p. After scanning my debit card, I was told it didn't go through. I showed both staff my bank account statement, my alert on my phone, and even had my bank on the phone stating that my debit card was used in the exact location I was standing! I was still denied access to the room that I had paid for. I sat in the lobby for close to 3 hours, not sure I was going to stay, at the same time also wanting my money refunded. I was told they "didn't have anything on their end." Even after showing them proof that I had paid, not they were refusing to give me my money back. I called my ailing mother to see if she could use her card. Staff informed that she would have fill out a form and send it back to them!!! Mind you, the form had to be changed over to a pdf, someting my mom wouldn't have know how to do, especially on a phone. Again, denied. I then call coporate, who also had me on the phone holding forever. One of the two ladies eventually ended her shift, and before she got to her car, the other employee, stated she could call her other boss and "push it through." I'm not sure what that meant because my records show I paid for the room. Amazingly, with 3 minutes, my payment was accepted. I complained to the general manager, Choice hotels corporate and even the NAACP. I am a man of color, and I feel that this was a racially motivated incident. I was harassed and locked out of my room on a couple of different occassions so I had to come down the frond desk to get my key re-activated? I never even got an apology from either employee of the so called "General Manager." If you a person of color, I would stay away from this place. I did not feel safe!!

Nice clean rooms I had a great experience Brenda the manager was very nice and accommodating i would definitely stay here again thank you Brenda for being so helpful I appreciate you.

Brenda and Jackie are amazing. My daughter stayed fir a few days while we had a bad storm and Brenda even helped her shovel her car out! Look forward to staying again!

The night manager was terrific! We had a problem with our room and she didn't hesitate to move us to a different room and took some off the bill. The breakfast was fantastic with several different choices and the food was nice and hot, also fresh. A big plus for me and my wife. The rooms were clean and tidy. Carpets were clean and fresh. The overall experience was one to be remembered and will gladly stay again!
