We purchased impact windows for our new home from Windsor. My husband was blowing off the porch when a very small rock put a hole in the glass. You would not think this would happen to impact windows. The reason why is because the inside of the window pane is impact, the outside pane is not. If we would have know that, I would have purchased my windows from a manufacturer that put the impact glass on the outer window. I now have to spend $700.00 to replace the bottom part of the our window.

Alex - Thank you for reaching out. The glass that we use on our Impact product is laminated, so that even when it’s broken, in will hold together. Laminated glass has an inner layer of thick plastic between two panes of glass. The thick plastic is adhered to both sheets of glass and holds the glass together even after it’s broken. The impact glass is available with either standard glass or with tempered glass as an upgrade. The tempered version shatters into pellets, rather than breaking in linear fractures.
