The sign to get to the waterfall was misleading and we ended up climbing through overgrowth! Take the road which is closed to vehicles, the entrance is half a mile up on the left

A fabulous oasis in the desert! Need a permit to park and hike there in summer. We went when it was 100 in Phoenix, but it is lower temp here and the trail is very shady. The water is cold, but feels great! We made the 14 mile dirt drive in with a mini-van, so doable without an SUV, just go slow. We also drove the Monument Valley loop with a minivan, so compared to that, this was not that bad. Worth the drive.

From Phoenix it’s 90 mins North on the I-17 and then another 60 mins on a long windy mountainous dirt road. Very bumpy! 4x4 vehicle highly recommend, but oh it’s so worth it. The water is beautiful, cool, fresh and clean, and since they limit access by permits (you have to get them ahead of time) we didn’t see another soul the whole time we were there.
