Very clean. Big rooms (2 king beds) convenient. Downsides…..The room we had could not be darkened. The old transom over the door had no shade so the room was very bright. It was bad enough that if they have no other options, we would not stay there. And the shower remains a mystery. Very little pressure and impossible to adjust the temp. They have obviously worked hard on the renovations and almost everything was very good. I hope they can fix these issues!

My family and I stayed there this passed weekend. I used to stay there every year with my family when I was a child when we came for Dare Days; back then it was the Duke of Dare. It had gone downhill quite a bit and I was very happy to find, when searching for a hotel for our trip, that it had been bought and renovated. The rooms look great and it was very clean. The location is perfect for just about anything you want to do in the area. I would say the new name suits it well since it is quite literally in the "heart of Manteo". The biggest issue I had was with the shower. The water pressure wasn't great and you couldn't turn on the cold water at all without the entire shower turning ice cold; however, the hot water wasn't scalding, so it was fine. The staff was really friendly, but check in/out is at a kiosk, which was a first for me (I assume this is due to COVID). The pricing was very fair for the rooms/amenities available. All in all I would recommend staying here for a short trip!

The Heart of Manteo Motor Lodge was very clean with surprisingly large rooms. The pet fee was reasonable compared to other hotels and had a decently sized shaded lawn area with pet cleanup bins. The staff was very friendly. The only two complaints I have is that the doors slam very easily and are obnoxiously loud. So starting at 5 AM, there was a constant orchestra of slamming doors and we could not sleep. I feel this could easily be rectified by adding a rubbing stripping to the door frame. This could definitely be an issue for people trying to vacation and relax. The only other issue was the water pressure; our showerhead was like the mist setting on a water hose. Overall, it was great with minor and fixable issues.

I stayed here March 24 to the 26th of this year. I very much enjoyed my stay. The room was very clean and cute. The bed was comfy too. It was a very close walk or drive to the center of town. The price was very reasonable. The only bad thing was a noisy guest in the room next-door, which was obviously not the motels fault. Besides that, I loved everything else, and would definitely recommend if you're looking for a no-thrills, but cute and clean place to stay while visiting Manteo.
