Great place. Best showers around. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Only got good cell service at the top Campground . Would have been 5 stars, but the local kids didn't follow the rules. Speeding and partying late at night .

Im giving it a 3, hard to find gold in the vastness but it was worth a try. Now the beauty's of the place has to be 6 stars!!!!

Camping at Rye Patch is unique. Just a short distance from Interstate 80 about 20 miles east of Lovelock, Nevada, you'll find a great campground located in a micro-climate surrounding the reservoir. Busy with my camping activities I spotted several deer grazing across the river. Large geese honked and appeared to gather on the hills nearby. Numerous large herons (I'm not a birder) nested in trees along the river, and wild turkeys gobbled in early morning. Schools of 2- to 3-foot long fish were seen in the clear water. None of those camping near me could identify what the fish were. They appeared to be a brownish color and evidently, based on size and number. the fish are eating good in the neighborhood! I didn't visit other parts of the camping and park areas. But what I saw was well maintained and handled our group of about 400 fraternity brothers. From what I saw, the campground surely rates a return visit on my next run.

Great place to camp. We camped in January, but water was still on and bath house had hot water. We camped in the lower area below the damn, quite and clean. Definitely would recommend and stay there again. $20 a night, gas station across the highway does not have ATM so plan ahead and bring cash.

Cold nights. Getting colder. If you're pitching a tent, plan to fully insulate: sleeping bag on bottom and around yourself and add a thick blanket within your sleeping bag around you. This place is worth it. Stayed two nights last week
