I've been going here since the 1980's. Not a whole lot has changed as far as the layout. They have air conditioning now and there's been some upgrades as far as the bars and bathrooms. The merchandise is right at the front. It creates a bottleneck when you first come in which can be a hassle. If there's only 1 or 2 bands is enough space but if there's more than 2 and they have a lot of merch it's inadequate. If the balcony is open you can go up there to sit to get away from some of the downstairs congestion and sit. It's bleacher style seating on concrete. It's not the best but if you need to rest your legs you can. I usually try to stand behind the front of house sound board or in front on it. If you're not tall you may want to get in early and head to the balcony. Parking is available across the street in the garage. Parking on the street can be tough and you may get towed too. Pizza is available if Mike's Late Nite Slice is open. It was not the last time I was there. So you may want to eat before you go if you're hungry. Chipotle and Waffle House are right out front.

My favorite venue in Columbus. Has the same feel as the theatre district in Chicago. Beer prices a bit steep, $10 for a tall boy. Still a big fan.

This place needs some help! It’s falling apart! Drinks are expensive just like any venue. Love the sink-in general standing area and the rails around the sides. I’m short so it’s nice to actually see over people! Parking is rough. I’m not sure if there’s a lot some where but the street parking is rare to find! You have to walk a few blocks. Sound was good. If you are handicapped female that can’t walk up stairs you won’t have access to a restroom!! Womens restrooms are up stairs. There’s only 4 stalls. They’re rough shape! The toilet paper thing kept falling open on me. Knocked my card credit right in the toilet! Lmao!!! Funtimes

The place is really grody but I guess it's a Columbus rite of passage. Don't sit on the toilet seat.

Chloe is right, usually most shows are open to the general public regardless of age, however sometimes there are shows that have age restriction, so you would need to check with the ticket seller and maybe the PromoWest business office, who owns the Newport, to make sure of the shows age restriction.
Yes, we have a full bar and Mikey's Late Night Slice serves pizza inside.
Yes, they have a box office on site. You'll just want to call first to ensure it's staffed at the time you plan to visit.
No, PromoWest is super strict. It has to be small and made of clear plastic. Wildly inconvenient.
Oct 17th.
You can buy from the box office on any show day or the promo west box office is open daily on weekdays at Kemba Live on Neil Ave.
Ohio Union is the closest. Gateway movie theater garage is fairly close as well. Both are safe.
There is a lot and an alley right behind the venue. I've had a lot of luck meeting bands there. Beyond the alley is all residential, mostly frat houses, some bands park a little further away but never more than a block.
Yes. Their website has deets
I saw kids AR the show I attended but do not know if they needed a negative covid test
Yes, they actually showed us to a couple seats, although, the college girl that was "admitting" people to the premium seat area, apparently had some friends show up that she wanted to give better seats to, and asked if we would mind moving to some other seats, so her friends could all sit together, ( I wondered whether these people had purchased the premium seats or she was just a friend who worked there, and "upgraded" them on her own, I saw no wristbands like we were issued for that area!!) She asked my wife if we would mind moving, after she had seated us there earlier, my wife looked me, but I couldn't hear what she had asked due to the music. When my wife told me what she asked, I said that if she asked again, the answer was No. She didn't, but she sat her buddies in front of us. We could still see the performance fine, so I didn't complain, but it did tick me off a bit!!
They have their bag policy on the website
Yeah Newport is always all ages
There is a balcony that has seats but its first come first serve.
Depends on the show - some are all ages, some are not. You will need to check the show details wherever you would buy the tickets to find out.
No you can't. They have food and a bar, and they don't allow purses big enough that you could sneak anything in (they also check bags).
The others are correct - when the doors open is typically the case - but make sure to read the description. Sometimes there may be things happening before the stated time, or right at that time.
Google Promowest. Should be info on the site.
It is typically a standing room only venue, unless you can find room on the scattered wall benches. They will not allow you to bring a chair of your own.
BOX OFFICE HOURS 24/7 Online.... The Box Office is open day of show only from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.
There is a smoking area
I just brought my 14 year old son to see Pop Evil a month ago and there was no problem.
It is recommended that you purchase in advance, though. Shows do sell out.
Phones are okay. Cameras that have detachable lenses are not. You would need a media pass for those. My advice is take your phone take some pics then put it away and have a good time.
Hi Elisa, Yes, the person escorting would need a ticket. Thanks!
On the streets is the simplest answer. Can you parallel park? How far are you willing to walk? The campus area gets kind of sketchy the farther away from High Street you get. Or, now that I'm older and well maybe just older ;-) I park in the garage across the street.
Most are over before midnight but it is a very relaxed venue setting.
Clutch size bags. They will pat you down on the way in to check for other objects.
yea
There's an OSU parking deck across the street a bit north and there's event parking that's reasonably priced. An hour prior gives ample time to get situated for the show.
Yes, just go there and give it your best
1700, but most times 1400. 1700 is really packed.
Not that I've ever seen, but great place to see a show
