Great for a kid friendly, easy and free outing for the little one and bigger kids too (and parents!)! We had fun checking out the various reptiles from snakes to snapping turtles. The animals have been very active both times when we were there, which was exciting for everyone. On our second visit, the resident snapping turtle was out for a walk with one of the staff, who are super friendly and knowledgeable. The short walk to the pond is very pretty and stroller friendly too. I knocked off one star just because the playground equipment was pretty dirty/muddy so it was hard to let my crawling little dude explore as much as he wanted too. But it has a couple of pretty cool play structures for all ages which is a bonus.

Great place to visit with a curious nearly five year old. Visitor center is staffed with friendly, helpful, knowledgeable naturalists eager to explain the live exhibits of local flora and fauna. Then venture out to the pond nearly completely covered with tiny green duckweed flowers, beneath which lurks all manner of life periodically poking its head above the surface for only the observant eye. Beware the narrow causeway slightly above the pond surface as a muddy bath awaits the distracted soul.

I'd approach one of the staff members on duty at the nature center. If that doesn't work I'd contact the volunteer coordinator at the parks & rec
I didn't see a gift shop at all.
Yes. Have been there up to 730pm (young kids) but im sure you can go/stay later.
Yes, if on a leash
