This is a government funded scam to waste your time money and resorces to attend a class that is like preschool.they have no real training and have not addressed any real problems.

Everyone is treated with Unconditional love, Dignity and respect. You can always feel safe and know that everything you say is confidential when calling the hotline or even coming in to talk with someone with all remain at the center. You can call as many times as you want and you will still get the same treatment we listen and we care about you.

This is the second time I have been here. The staff appear very sweet and nice. However it is always clear what the first worker told me in March 2017. "this is a just a job for us, as soon as you walk out of the door we simply don't care" The staff is trained well to at least while you are in front of them to pretend to be concerned for your safe and wellbeing, while you are there. Much to my surprise there is someone that claims to be in the building to speak to abused persons after hours. Again looks are deceiving. Whomever runs this office feels that someone alone in an office building all night and must stay glued to the phone needs the cheapest chair that that Office Depot or Staples has. Being as there is a very sweet person always at the front desk using same chair. CAPs maybe should know there is something called a 24 hour chair, rated for 24 hour use. I am sure that the under paid overnight staff maybe be a bit more concerned about who they are talking to than how much their butt hurts and how little they are paid for this job. Well this poor woman is forced to take notes. And if your worker has a chance they will maybe get back to you within the week. If you don't have one, well someone might get back to you one day, well if you are not too battered to get to the phone. Don't worry they won't leave a message. And well if they do call they will only try one time so be sure you have some other plan in mind. Make sure you do not have anything unique or special going on. There is I guess no script for that or well they don't care and would much rather tell you about how bad their life is, and all they have to go through. The suggestions are pretty standard you already know the answers you are looking for. Being abused you have read and heard on TV, internet YouTube all you need to know and you can at least just turn those off when it no longer interests you. Pretty much the advice might be if they ever get done talking about themselves, well over night staff at least. You are abused for a reason, just accept it and go back to sleep or just leave. The day staff do at least fake the interest while reading emails and texting when not on social calls some will be in deep thought you know has absolutely nothing to do with you. Don't believe me put it to the test being sharing and expressing and while that look comes over their face, just add ramdom words or comments without changing your tone or facial expressions, it will be several minutes at best before it is noticed. If I was not forced to attend, I would not waste my time. And clearly theirs.

Questions & Answers

I know of a Latino woman who is abused by her husband. She has a job and a two year old son. Is there a domestic abuse shelter she may be able to stay while her apartment comes through. She has applied for an apartment and is waiting.

There are services available in Charles Country including a Womens shelter. If she reaches out to Centers for Abused Persons they can assist her with finding placement or other suitable living arrangements

Have called a few times. Are you really helpful?

I am sure if you get the right worker and you are not too unique they can help you.
