Dr Torres and the entire staff completely care about the patient, of course, and the mind set of the pet parent. Excellent staff from receptionist, to vet tech, to Dr.

I had a five star rating for Dr. Nina's when Kristen and Amanda worked at Dr. Nina's because they always took care of my animals. However, Since Dr. Nina's Parrish has been sold and is no longer a part of the original Dr. Nina's, the quality of the doctors and staff has substantially declined. They don't look at patient records when they actually write scripts that you may have been getting for years, creating extra work for you to ensure your pet is taken care of. When it was addressed with the office, they literally stated they didn't even have the records showing the medication amounts that my pet had been on. Further, I had a serious situation where a hematoma came up on my dog's ear. I took him to two emergency vets who told me that it was very important to get taken care of with my primary vet (emergency vets do not deal with hematoma's of the ear from what I have been told), immediately. The new vet at Dr. Nina's would not allow the staff to make an emergency appointment, stating that it was not that serious when I had been told that it was very serious by two emergency vets and Ellenton Animal Hospital. I finally made an appointment with Ellenton Animal Hospital to get it taken care of. Had I not done so, I potentially could have had to put my dog under anesthesia for surgery rather than to drain the hematoma as was what Ellenton Animal Hospital did. This is a severe dereliction of duty, considering that my dog has beginning stages CHF and to put him under anesthesia could have killed him. Clearly, this new doctor couldn't be bothered to even review my pet's medical records before making a quick decision that the hematoma was not serious. The office staff are horrible now. Mackenzie, in the front, is rude, condescending, and doesn't listen to what you are asking as such also tries to give medical advice when she is not a licensed medical professional. Cheryl, the office manager, is completely oblivious to what the office procedure has been in the past and doesn't even know the contractual obligations they have with Chewy and other online pharmacies. She literally spent 20 minutes debating me on whether I could have Chewy call them when I had just spoken with Chewy who told me that they were not permitted to do so. I am very sad that the vet that I trusted for many years has gone downhill, so drastically, in the past couple of months. With that, I cannot trust that they have the best interest of my animals any longer. It is highly disheartening that the staff turnover at Dr. Nina's Parrish has changed so much, in such a short period of time, that they clearly are no longer concerned with the health and welfare of the patients. This is no longer the vet clinic where you can have a great relationship with the vet and the staff. The staff, now, does everything they can to stop you from speaking with the vet, even about sensitive issues you have spoken with her in the past. If you are looking for a vet clinic that cares for your pets and had their best interest in mind, I urge you to look elsewhere. I called Dr. Nina's in Sarasota and explained my issues with the Parrish office. That is when I learned that the Parrish office is no longer associated with Dr. Nina's Sarasota. They also were very clear to let me know that I was not the only person who had issues with the new office. There are quite a few pet parents who are having the same issues and are leaving Dr. Nina's Parrish.
