Really bad experience. Ate here for the first time with some friends and few hours later i am running in and out the toilet. Sushi rice is not what Japanese really use and it is very pricey for something that is supposed to be cheaper than what they are charging.

We dined in with a large group. Service was prompt food, was way too salty and greasy. Main complaint was the place was not clean!

At abt 2:40, we were seated at a table, given a lunch menu, and asked what we wanted to drink. When the waitress left, I looked thru the menu, made a food decision, and let my spouse know, before heading to the restroom. Upon return, was surprised to see we were being moved to a different table - no explanation, just: ‘Sorry, we need to change table’. - This wasn’t a problem. No worries. As we chatted awhile amongst ourselves, we happened to noticed the menu was different. It was the same food, but not the lunch menu we previously made selections from. Since no one brought our drinks, either, there was no one to ask to exchange the menus. When cleaning staff passed us on their way to set up another table, we stopped them to explain our table had been switched, and we were given different menus from those we previously had. They apologized & sent someone over. Rather than bringing the requested menus, we were instead told the lunch menu ended at 3:00. This was an unexpected surprise. I reminded her we had arrived and were previously seated before being moved to the current table . The waitress had even taken our drink requests. As a matter of fact, I checked the time on my phone as I spoke, just to be certain I was correct... I showed her the time as it was rolling over to 3:03. Unbelievably she said- see, it is 3:03 now. Sorry, lunch menu only until 3:00. Evidently, we had no choice, and by then, it had started raining outside. It was either leave, or order from the dinner menu. We chose the latter. A mistake. The dinner menu & it’s increased pricing provides the customer with steamed broccoli, literally still cold in the center; tough & chewy shrimp, decent small scallops, and fried rice and that was anything but. - (Certainly not the fried rice typically served at other Japanese restaurants we frequent). One would think someone among the staff would have shown concern that the two of us, AND, the couple seated at the table after us, had pushed all the rice aside. As our plates were cleared, I asked for a togo cup for my soft drink. ‘Sorry, we out of cups. No cups’. Wonderful. We, too, are Sorry, …but not sorry. We don’t intend to return to see if you can do better.

Food extremely over salted. The floor was slippery from grease and lack of cleaning. It was at least eighty degrees in the restaurant and very uncomfortable. We asked for extra plates as we had a celebration cake and were told there would be a $5.00 charge for them! What???!! With our group of 13, we spent about $500 so to charge for plates was a little unreasonable and did not show appreciation for our business. We felt very rushed to finish and leave. Staff stood close by ready to charge over and clean the tables. This seems a little obsessive and irritating. Most, if not all, in our group decided we would not be back. We prefer Kyiobi on Kingsley or Kan Ki on San Jose. Will choose one of those in the future.

They don't take reservation.sorry
They have a sign on the door coming into the restaurant asking customers to wear a mask. Also an additional sign when you walk in saying the same. The staff are wearing masks and they also have hand sanitizer at the entrance. I was placing a to go order, so I'm unsure about the hibachi stations if they had hand sanitizers there as well or around the restaurant.
