Two things come to mind. In my professional opinion, total VR immersion (without peripheral non-VR 2d screen learning distraction, such as people behind the student or classroom noise) and even slightly achieved muscle memory would be more effective than any paper manual or flat screen lessons for the student, especially if used repeatedly to master a procedure.
