We recently brought our mother to the Oaks at Avon for long term care. We have no complaints with the nurses. They were very nice and showed compassion to our mom. However, that is where the compliments stop. Her toilet leaked dirty water on the floor of the bathroom and maintenance told us the seal needed replacement. That should have been fixed immediately but in stead they wrapped the base of the toilet with towels. This is a huge health risk and in my opinion they should have fixed the problem immediately or moved her to an empty room, of which we were told they had 40 empty beds. The worst part of this facility was the finance person who I dealt with. She was rude and when I questioned the amount due she became quite snippy with me. I never said I wouldn’t pay, I only questioned what I thought she stated the day prior. She contacted her supervisor and they agreed to allow weekly payments for my mother who was self pay. That is when the conversation turned nasty. I was told that “if you don’t pay on time, even if it’s a day late, we will notify the front desk and you and your sisters will not be allowed in to see your mother”. This was the last straw since she had made other comments to me about my mother who as Alzhaimer’s. The comments made by her were as if she thought she was a doctor, which she was not one. We removed my mother from that facility that same day and I will never recommend them to anyone so long as that department continues to employ people like this. Disgusting!

I personally work at Oaks at Avon and absolutely love my job and the professionals I work with!!! We’re the only 5 star facility in highlands county and voted number #1 rehab.

Not recommend for Rehabilitation. My wife was in Tampa AHC Hospital where she was treated for a stroke. Her 4 weeks of therapy consisted of 4 45 minute treatments in the morning with a 15 minute break in-between, and the same in the afternoon. She receives next to nothing here. 😱
