Normally I wouldn't have anything good to say about SSA but Teresa at this location was so personable and helpful in getting my children's new SSN's set up due to a name change. She called me to let me know what else was needed rather than just "sending me a letter" which would have delayed the process so I was immediately able to get her the additional document that was needed to process the paperwork. She called me to let me know it was received and that she would be processing everything and it was all done within the same week. I've never heard of SSA doing anything that quickly. She even took the extra time to further review my paperwork and noticed that someone before possibly made a mistake by stating my children wouldn't be eligible for benefits even though the father died. She immediately set me up for an appt next week to have my case reviewed again. This was complete initiative on her behalf and was taking the job above and beyond what was needed. She was so thoughtful and helpful. I really appreciate her for taking the extra time to help me and the sense of urgency she took in getting things processed so quickly. I really hope she receives recognition for doing such a great job. Thank you!

Getting to speak to someone a "HUMAN" is like trying to win the lottery! I was on hold for 48minutes then got hung up on.called immediately back had to go through the same automated thing went through all the necessary steps got put on hold i was on hold for over 10-15mintues then an automated thing cane on said i was next all it did was send me to a voice i left all the necessary info waited a week nobody called me! I called the office in covington again had a meltdown and cried the whole conversation the lady was polite gave me a another number i left a message didnt recieve a call back for about a week im so stressed out all i do is cry i just want to report changes i dont have a computer or laptop no fax no copy machine i have vision issues so trying to read a bunch of stuff in small print on a cellphone especially if you cant read small print easily!this is exhausting and frustrating why cant social security have a drop box like social services its so simple you just put your stuff in a envelope address it to your social worker this makes absolutely no sense!

Calling the National SSA phone number is beyind tedious. After going through the recorded opitions, getting disconnected, same thing...finally security verification questions then the service does not pick up the answers, immediately disconnected. The Covington SSA office posts the phone number, accepts calls and even automatically transfers you a voicemail if no one is available. REMARKABLE. I am grateful for the public service this office offers. Then, to actually speak to someone friendly, understanding and patient! I can only add, this a model for SSA standards. Thank you.
