I almost thought this must be some sort of joke. Reach out for help for someone threatening self harm and they a- clearly can’t speak English and b- tell me to contact my primary care doctor. Good thing this service is FREE as even that is an overpriced cost for what you get. Do NOT call these people if someone in your life needs actual help.

They were kinda helpful during the pandemic, getting me groceries delivered and Eric was nice. However they are back to being passive aggressive and rushing you off the phone. One supervisor got deeply offended by my saying the hospital I was most recently in was neglectful and abusive and threatened to hang up on me. For months I was asking about Eric and they acted weird like he was fired or left under bad circumstances, it turned out he just went to a different department. I guess it’s just a job for status amongst the other social justice warriors and if people actually believe they can call up when they’re hurting are in for a nasty surprise. One girl who answers the phone in the weekend, “Norma”’is an airhead and unhelpful to talk to. One guy, Luis contacted me with some bizarre LinkedIn clone referral link which I think is highly inappropriate. See attached photo. This kind of hot and cold helpful/then rushing you off the phone is highly narcissistic and strangely just like the sort of lovebombing thing you’d want to avoid seeking services. When you see someone walking the streets muttering to themselves ranting, you may not understand but maybe they’ve just been enduring years of lousy Illinois “social services” that do nothing but keep you poor and dependent.

Hello I had a very unpleasant experience with NAMI I was having issues and needed to talk to someone. The first person I talked to was very nice person. The second person was extremely rude. All I wanted was for her to just help me in my situation. Then we argued about my medicine. I was having bad experiences. I needed her to explain to my mom but she just kept asking questions but I just needed her to explain to my mom about my medicine. But she said do you know who you're talking to? Like if she's my boss or something NAMI is a place to help people not to cause more harm. I thought about suicide three times if she was the one I'm speaking to on that day and she answers me like that I may be in on a another world you can't bring back the dead. I don't want her to be fired all I want is that that never happens to anyone no one deserves that. Lislie is her name I don't recommend her to no one.
