Megan Rush Walstrom successfully finalized my divorce a few weeks ago. Initially I was really hoping that my ex and I could complete our divorce by filing for an 'uncontested divorce' and avoid having to hire attorneys to represent us. However we unfortunately we could not reach an agreement when it came to a custody schedule for our two minor children. So I begrudgingly began my online search for an experience family law attorney in my area. I was able to speak to a handful of lawyers, but Megan was the unequivocally the person that I felt most comfortable with and had the most confidence in. Throughout my divorce proceedings, I was so impressed with Megan's compassion, courtesy, attention to detail and prompt replies to any questions that I had. Megan is also blessed to have an incredibly hard working and dedicated support team that I would regularly communicate with through email regarding my case. In the end, the terms that Megan was able to successfully achieve for me in my divorce settlement agreement far exceeded what I had hoped for. The legal expenses were worth every penny because I view it as an 'investment' - an investment in my relationship with my two sons, which is priceless.

Maybe I got the wrong lawyer at the firm but I was not happy with the representation in court.

Questions & Answers

Are they expensive?

Extremely , for poor attitude and results! I paid 5,000 .00 and DID not get half the results I deserved. This is for Rahaim. He responded to my husband better than I. He did not explain half of what was going to happen . Apparently I was not a top priority case for him.. ,but my case was !! He was very last minute, we did a lot of the leg work ourselves. Then, no explanation of what was going to happen after final court date.. let's just say , it's been a 2 year ordeal, and I'm still paying the price of this nightmare. The only reason I took him , was because 3 other top lawyers I wanted , we're not accepting new clients. Thus referred to this lawyer. . Seriously think twice , before taking him on.. at least go in for a free consultation. Maybe u will have better luck as a man. The only thing he did , was get my plea bargin down. I could have done that with a public defender. haha. I wish you the best of luck. Remember, most places have free consults. Best wishes

If you’ve been charged with any offense on the University of Delaware campus, contact a defense attorney who can represent you and work to reduce the impact on your future career. Unfortunately, criminal charges can affect your status at the school and your scholarships as well as your education. A defense attorney can work to minimize the damages.

What sort of sentence will my child face in the juvenile justice system?

Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021
Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021

Even though the juvenile justice system works to ensure young offenders don’t face the same harsh penalties as adults who are aware of the consequences of their actions, if your child has been charged, it’s important to get a reputable and experienced defense attorney. A defense attorney can work to reduce sentencing and ensure your child is sentenced as juvenile. Unfortunately, prosecutors will sometimes work to have minors placed in the adult justice system. A defense attorney can work to prevent this from happening. The sentencing your child faces will depend on the jurisdiction and the nature of the charges. Contact a defense attorney at Rahaim, Saints & Walstrom for an individual evaluation of your child’s case and the possible sentence your child may face.

What happens if I make a mistake and violate the terms of my probation?

Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021

The terms of your probation should be made quite clear. However, mistakes do happen and sometimes misunderstandings occur as well. If you have made the wrong choice or have misunderstood something, you may be worried or concerned about the effects of violating your probation. You may face added jail time or other penalties. A defense attorney can determine whether there were any exceptional circumstances leading to the violation of probation and can argue your case in court. An attorney can also look to have charges reduced so that the book isn’t thrown at you because you have made a mistake.

What evidence can I use in a fraud, burglary, shoplifting or identity theft case?

Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021
Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021

A Glasgow or Newark criminal defense attorney can gather many types of evidence in these cases. For example, if the alleged fraud or identity theft took place online, they can investigate to see whether others have access to the same computers or electronics used in the alleged incidents of fraud and identity theft. If shoplifting or burglary is alleged, attorneys can investigate to see whether there is evidence supporting a defendant’s version of events. Perhaps you didn’t realize some goods were stolen or you didn’t know the origin of the products you purchased. Sometimes in burglary and shoplifting cases, the person holding the products in question is accused of the crime, even without evidence suggesting they actually stole the items. An attorney can strongly defend you in these types of situations and advise you on the chances of your case.

Can I defend myself in a disorderly conduct or trespassing case?

Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021
Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021

Whether you’ve been accused of trespassing or disorderly conduct, or have been at charged with another offense, you may be able to defend yourself. However, your best outcome may not come from representing yourself in court. An aggressive defense launched by a defense attorney is very different than a defense launched by an individual with limited legal training. A professional, experienced attorney understands the law, knows how court cases work, and can usually rely on investigators and other professionals to help mount the strongest defense. In addition, an attorney can give you legal advice and support you through every step of the process, answering questions and helping to minimize the effects of charges made against you.

Is it worth it to fight a traffic offense?

Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021
Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021

If you’ve been accused of a hit-and-run, driving an unregistered vehicle, aggressive driving, speeding or any other traffic violation, it is important to get legal advice. Even if you are dealing with traffic tickets, it can be invaluable to get legal support. The reality is the DMV point system may dock you for traffic offenses you don’t fight. Even some unresolved traffic tickets can lead to reduced points, increased insurance costs, and other problems. Traffic violations in some cases can lead to a revoked license, meaning you can’t get to work to support your family. Traffic offenses should always be treated as a serious legal matter. Contact an attorney if you are dealing with a traffic offense to ensure you get the strong defense you deserve.

Who will get custody of the children if I divorce?

Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021
Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021

Child custody is determined on an individual basis in Delaware. Courts will take many factors into consideration, including child support and the ability of parents to care for their children. If you and your spouse can agree to child visitation rights, custody and other matters, this can pave the way for amicable agreement about custody. If this is not the case, you may need to work with a family law attorney to ensure the best interests of the child are protected.

What will be my share of property in a divorce?

Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021
Rahaim Saints & Walstrom, LLP | Sep 25, 2021

Delaware does not assume a 50-50 division of assets. Instead, many factors are taken into consideration, including income, each partner’s contributions, children involved, child custody, prenuptial agreements and more. The best way to get a fair assessment of how much you will get from a divorce is to consult with the attorneys at Rahaim, Saints & Walstrom. In a consultation, our attorneys can evaluate the value of your assets and specifics of your situation to come up with a general idea of how much you may qualify for. Our attorneys can also work with you during the duration of the divorce, advocating for your rights, so you get the resources you need to meet your financial obligations.
