Hike to the beach is not for average people. There is a huge climb to reach the stairs or you can take the side path for a big drop to walk down to the beach. Half the family quit the climb. Water was not that clear or clean. Shallow water.

Nice little beach if you can handle the walk. Laketown is a very small but pleasantly sandy beach. The trek from the parking lot is a bit arduous as many of the steps are completely covered with sand. You basically have to scale a small dune to get to the beach. There is private property flanking both sides of the beach, so there is very limited space.

Nice little beach along Lake Michigan. Large sand dune climb to get there. The first part used to have steps but are almost completely covered. The set of steps going down to the lake are nice ... around 180 steps.

Is alcohol permitted on the beach? Also do they allow bonfires on the beach.
Swim suit optional...just go to beach and walk north till no cottages above and relax.
Yes it is free to swim and park, though parking is limited.
There are steps to the top of the dunes on the Lake MI side but they dune has overtaken the rest of the stairways.
The whole of Michigan's west shore on Lake Michigan is sandy with a pretty gentle increase in depth
