When speaking with the clock doctor on the phone he seemed friendly; however, when I brought the clock in the lady behind the counter told me not to bother and to take it to the clock shop on fulton - all I needed was a pendulum suspension and possibly a cleaning and she told me he would likely charge me $600. Unfortunate experience. Want to edit to respond to owner's response - I brought the clock in with the face off, she took one look at it and said - completely unprompted - "He does free estimates but it's not going to be worth it to fix. I'd just take it to the clock shoppe on Fulton." When I inquired further she said she just gave one back "exactly like this and it was $595" - there was no price range. She then took a quick glance at the mechanism and said "it's dirty and worn, I'd just take it to the Clock Shoppe where at least you can talk to someone. Clock Doctor doesn't do temporary repairs." I wasn't looking for a temporary repair, and I believe this lady is costing you business, I showed up with the intent to drop it off for an estimate and was turned away. If she had just taken the clock and let me know the owner would reach out with an estimate the clock would have been there right now; instead, I was actively referred to another shop. I have no reason to lie about this encounter, there's nothing in it for me, I just wanted my family's clock repaired.
