I gave 2 star because the river house needs major work, the Mens house had a ton of spiders and wasn’t that clean, zero outings while I was there for 30 days. The staff was pretty cool though. Essential behavioral has a really good program 5 stars to essential behavioral health ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. River house needs improvements and there’s to much fighting amongst peers (patients) keep up the good work Chris, shareda, and Dorsey, mr. James and Dean awesome work. Erin does a really good job running those houses please clean the carpet in the houses and please fix the womens pool at the other house. Take the men out on more outings they need it to help with recovery and there will be less fighting

This facility is a sham. The residential homes are filthy with barely working amenities such as electrical and plumbing. Both the women and mens houses had pools that looked like a pond due to their inability to pay the pool service. The staff at the Cal Center regularly makes you feel is if you are just another number with zero individualized care. There is a complete us vs them mentality that is pervasive throughout. The house staff is the only redeeming quality as far as the housing is concerned. The "group therapy" consists of repeated redundant information given in hand out form, you spend all your time reading hand outs vs getting any type of therapy for six days a week. When they are short on hand outs it is time to watch another episode of Intervention, something I can do without paying an arm and a leg. Speaking of therapy, my 30 day stint consisted of only three useless therapy sessions and three meetings with a case case manger. The good staff they have is completely overwhelmed while the rest of the staff appears to hide out in their offices. The detox portion of the facility has zero licensed staff except for the PA you see via zoom. They advertise licensed medical staff but the reality is far from what they claim. They get around having medical staff by having you pop your own pills. This could potentially be dangerous situation as people detox from alcohol and other drugs. I simply was not impressed at all.

The clinicians seemed decent, the food was pretty bad, even though we had "chefs". The admin side lied to us and dissembled constantly about policy and their handling of a covid outbreak, which sent me home, with no warning or preparation. I wasn't allowed to pack my own personal effects, and lost about $100 worth of property. They also failed to send me two packages that both Amazon and UPS confirmed as received, combined worth $100, plus items of sentimental value. They take no responsibility for anything and at one point the director said our complaints were invalid because we're all just sick people. The housing was adequate, but don't believe the hype about the "mansion" with a pool and all the other amenities. Everything is run down and in disrepair. The company always passes you around and no one takes any responsibility. I can't get anyone to actually call me. Just a "you have to call someone else".
