I stayed here for two nights for the NADD event at the Ionia fair and honestly, this place isn't as bad as some of the reviews. Don't get me wrong it's not a 5 star hotel. The house keepers keep everything clean, there were no bed bugs, my bed sheets and blankets were free of stains and didn't smell, the floor was swept, trash bags replaced, counters were clean, shower and toilet was clean, the mini fridge was clean as well as the microwave, and the TV worked just fine. However... American inn as a COMPANY needs to seriously bring in some PROFESSIONAL cleaners house keepers can only do so much with what they are given. The carpets are nasty, and the ac units are caked in old dust making it stink to high heaven if you use it. That being said, no one bothered me with my DND sign and everyone was very friendly with me and my dogs, even when I had a mixup with registration. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff are so nice and very attentive! And everything was very clean. The hotel is older and definitely in need of some basic repairs, but overall we had a great stay with our family. I was disappointed that the pool was closed, but was told that it's opening next week so if you're interested in the pool call ahead! The hotel is in a great location, there's a nice restaurant right next door, and a 10 minute walk from downtown shops.

The room and hallway was very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast had a very nice selection and the room was spacious and clean. The rooms are basic and could use updating. There was no coffee maker in our room.
