We really wanted to go here. However, the reviews citing queues almost put us off. Fortunately not, because we were here in mid-September at 9:30 am and were alone for 15 minutes. Splendid. The nearby redwood trees are also ideal for taking photos in the morning.

You can park near the museum and walk to the tunnel, but you can’t drive to the tunnel. It’s open, we visited last week.
