There’s a good reason for all the negative posts that this organization receives. They’ve more than earned the poor ratings. Although I believe the people running the “rescue” do care about animals, their adoption application form is unnecessarily complicated and they show little care or respect about the people that want to adopt a rescue animal. They’re very capricious in the way they interact with adoption applicants, at least those that are lucky enough to even receive a response from them at all. They appear to handpick the applicants they like and then generally ignore the rest of the bunch. This “rescue” has been a heartbreaker for many well intentioned people that are doing the right thing by adopting a pet in need of a home. I am a responsible, lifelong dog owner with plenty of indoor and outdoor space and a summer home in the islands. I applied to adopt a dog, but never received a follow-up, so I emailed and called them until after 8 tries I finally got a response that they had not denied me, but also had not approved me for the dog I had applied for. After trying to work with them for a couple of weeks, I finally gave up. I personally know two other qualified people trying to adopt that have similar tales of woe about dealing with Joyful Rescues. Their website is very enticing and it’s easy to find the perfect furry new friend on it and fall in love. However, take heed of the poor reviews and look somewhere else. You have been warned! There are many reputable rescues out there, even in the same local area, who are eager to place their pets and handle the application and adoption process more professionally and compassionately. Use your web browser to find them. Good luck finding your new rescue companion. RECOMMENDATION - You may want to check out Rescue Pups in Friendship, NY, not far from Joyful Rescues. They are honest, compassionate, and easy to work with. They actually WANT to adopt out their animals!

I wish I could give this joint 00.1 star.

Horrible shelter.

Call them, they are very careful about their pet placements.
No, they won't even talk to you on the phone. All you can do is fill out an online application and hope they contact you back.
They do just call😍
Call them to arrange meeting. They came to buffalo for my mom. Extremely wonderful place that will do right by those poor kitties. Call asap
Possibility I would call just to make sure. Wonderful place loving people will find wonderful forever home. Was the best for my buddy even though it still makes me cry I miss him. Couldn't ask for better people

If the pet is listed on the website they havent been adopted yet, but that doesnt mean they dont have someone lined up.
They don't help with anything. They are seriously the worst rescue shelter ever. They only accept the "sellable" animals and are so rude..and deny almost everyone that wants to adopt an animal without reason. I recommend the SPCA or the Humane Society in Hornell.
Go to the Joyful Rescues website, and fill out the application form. They will usually get back to you in a few days
Go somewhere else. You'll just have your heart broken fir no good reason, with no explanation. They even say that in their website, the cowards!!!
My answer would be yes, but like Buzz said, I would call first to check the hours of operation
I fostered and adopted a puppy living in a car with a homeless woman. From the amount of jumping heights a puppy shouldn't I now have to eventually have my pups knees operated on. There isn't any other way holistically. Eventually it's quite painful and can cause much more damage if not done. However look into getting pet insurance from ASPCA.... we had an American Eskimo with awful Arthritis and Muscle tenseness along with knee issues. She had laser treatments for her Arthritis and was on muscle relaxers which heped tremendously however it was so costly. Every visit we filled out the form and sent in the claim and always got a return and in our case it was quite worth it. My puppy is now 2 and she's quoted at $18.00 per month you get to chose the deductible which can be easily met with yearly blood work, flee/tick prevention, or even just medications. Keep in mind it's usually cheaper to get a script and purchase your medications at your pharmacy. Clinics price up all meds
