We stayed here in June of 2022 for a wedding weekend. I wanted to share a review for any families wanting to stay, as I was looking for more info to make my trip easier and couldn’t find much. We traveled with an an infant and stayed in their lowest rate queen room which was part of the wedding block. It was very nice! They were recently renovated so everything felt new. However if I were to come again as a family I would have requested a larger room. The hotel did have pack n plays (thank goodness!) available and a refrigerator by request for medical need so they provided both. The bathroom was small with a stand up shower only and the sink was tiny so if you’re looking for a bath time space it was tough. The bathroom also has a slider door which let light flood into the room which isn’t a problem unless you have a sleeping infant in the corner and the shades are not completely black out. The sun also set pretty late since it was the middle of summer. There is no elevator to access rooms higher than ground floor so we had to leave our stroller in the car, but they were kind enough to let us leave it up front if we were just stopping by the room quickly. Our baby doesn’t quite sleep through the night so we let our neighbors know because the walls were thin. Again none of these things would be an issue if it were just my husband and I and the hotel really made it work the best they could for it being historic. The catering, restaurant and event staff were so kind and accommodating. They have high chairs on site too! Adjacent to the hotel was a beautiful park that we really enjoyed taking walks at. The only issue that was frustrating was that the pool was closed for maintenance during the height of summer. The Dive restaurant was great, the views are incredible and the hotel as a wedding venue was spectacular.

I booked a weekend stay for my husband's birthday. We'd been eagerly awaiting the reopening after remodeling was complete and were excited to check out the finished product. After booking the first reservation, I received an email informing me that the restaurants would be closed that weekend due to having three weddings scheduled. We were disappointed and decided to postpone our trip two weeks so that we could experience dining at 1926. Upon arrival we noticed that the building has mostly hard surfaces that do not absorb noise. Then we noticed that the room was extremely small and very limited for space and storage. The parking lot was unfinished and rough and was full at 4:00 in the afternoon so we had to park in the lot across the street which also had limited parking. I had made dinner reservations for 6:30 but shouldn't have bothered. We were 2 of 22 people in the restaurant all evening and the last ones out at 8:30. The food was decent but certainly not outstanding nor worth the prices they charge. The service was good, but the timing between courses seemed to take awhile. I suspect they were short of help in the kitchen. We knew there was a wedding party on the property but were relieved to find that the reception was being held in the lower level toward the north end of the building, and the noise seemed to be contained. The temperature in our room was stuffy, and we tried to adjust the thermostat. Unfortunately the model they have installed in the rooms seemed to be unable to be adjusted. When I called the desk to ask how to adjust the thermostat, I was told that it was controlled by the maintenance personnel and they would request for them to adjust the temperature to my liking. After we enjoyed some time walking around the town, we settled in our room to shower and relax. The shower is very small and difficult to operate without soaking the wall or floor. There is no place to put toiletries or curling irons while trying to get ready. And right around midnight as we were trying to sleep, the wedding party moved to the bar location just off the lobby, and the music and voices carried through the lobby down the hallway to our room. After over an hour of trying to adjust to this problem we decided we would be better off to cut our losses and head home at 1:30 in the morning. The desk clerk asked why we were leaving and when my husband informed her that the noise was too much for us to even rest, she tried to argue with him. Overall this hotel is a HUGE disappointment. We paid $373 for a hotel room we couldn't even sleep in. There are so many things they could do right but don't. Can't imagine how they will stay in business.

Really enjoyed our stay this past weekend. I have no clue what it was before, but I like what it is now. Do not expect do get all of the modern amenities with this hotel. But that is ok. The view was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The showers are nice and come with nice bathrooms supplies. The dive bar had some good apps. and drinks. If my wife and I are in the area again we will most certainly stay again.

Antique Excellence! St. Clair Inn. Opened: September 1926. Old meets newly designed And renovated. Excellent location for formal family events. Kind, courteous & respected staff. The Dive Bar is not a "dive bar" but in fact a brilliant restaurant & bar, Overlooking the St. Clair River. Mindfully charming. Lovely bakery pastries. Designer rooms. I'll return this month, to plan my Wedding Weekend, In the vintage boutique comfort of the St. Clair Inn! Memorable.❤
