Parks & Recreation department are currently working on the two lake's & river channel, moving rocks & clearing away growth which has clogged the water way. It may be a week or two before work is done, so fishing derby is not happening for some time. River water levels are reduced now, also affecting fish populations. Hope this helps you.

There isnt a specific location that is set aside for swimming. The man-made pond is for fishing and eventhough the Kern River is currently flowing next time to it, there is trash floating in the river and the presence on chemical runoff. I do not recommend it.

I have yet to see any electric RC boats. Most people swim & fish, I would suggest being respectful of them if you go out.
