Great hike lots to see, start in the trees and end in the rocks, the trail can be hard to follow at some points in the hike but if you look at others you will be fine. The hike can be challenging but if you take your time it should take you about 5-7 hours to get up, a permit is required but not regularly checked, we got up without one but you risk a fine by doing so.

This is a wonderful hike…we didn’t go to the top but still felt like we got our times worth as the views are amazing and just what you would expect. If you do go to the top start early and bring water and good shoes.

Classic Tahoe hike, and possibly the best. For some the 3,500 feet of elevation gain is a bit much, but if you're up to the challenge you'll be well rewarded. I was amazed to find so many wildflowers up here!

Completed this hike in May 2021. There was still snow near the summit. Dog did fine but it was very strenuous for sure.

The trail is quite uneven/rocky almost the whole way, which makes it more challenging. Haven't done Mt Rose so can't compare. Check out comments on AllTrails
