Really nice lake to kayak in. The parking lot is small but it doesn’t seem to usually be busy. The kayak launch is a really nice addition, especially if you have trouble getting in or out of the water - there’s a rail and bench that pulls out to assist people getting into or out of a kayak.

We walked this trail in late March after a few days of dry weather. Both loops were muddy from one end to the other such that most of the walk was in the leaves on either side of the trail to avoid the mud. Trail is also full of exposed roots making walking difficult. Would not recommend this trail.

Updated. There are 2 spots for trailer parking. Which is wonderful since we use a lot of kayaks for our family. 😊 Amazing kayak launch! Self propelled in and out for easily accessible water. Just beware that the water is maybe 6" deep there. There are 11 parking spots and 1 handicap spot and they fill up fast. Not sure where to park if it is full. I would recommend if you want to go kayaking. My son Eve caught a fish in his boat when it jumped out of the water😂

The family loves the trail here. It was super muddy the last time we went so don't go to soon after a storm without your rubber boots. We really want to get out on some kayaks it looks amazing.

Good spot definitely look out for water moccasins and other poisonous snakes. No motorized boats. Drop a canoe or kayak. You can fish either side, elbow road gas parking lot as well. Free parking!
One table, yes.
It's a fresh water lake. It's not directly connected to the ocean or the bay.
Nothing 'gas' powered.
Park hours are from dawn to dusk so around 7am if not a little earlier.
Fishing from land and water is permitted with a Virginia Freshwater Fishing License (fishing from golf course property is not permitted) Motorized vessels are not permitted Watercraft must be launched from canoe/kayak launch Swimming is prohibited Stand up paddle boarding is permitted
They offer kayak rentals during the summer at the location or you can rent from other local outdoor centers for the day or weekend.
There is a sign going into the area at the main road that it closes at 6pm.
Stumpy isn't bad to just get out and ride, but probably not what your looking for. No jumps here. What your probably looking for is Indian River Park. There is also Waller Mill and Harwood Mill across the water.
