Retinal Consultants has been a mainstay in my eye care for the past six months and counting. Last September, I arrived with a retinal tear in my right eye. Since then I have had a total of three retinal surgeries and one heavy oil insertion and removal used as a less common way of keeping a retina attached due to my condition of PVR over the past six months. Not to mention the addition of a coordinated cataract surgery along the way. Through all this, I have had the fortune of being a patient of Dr. Cupp. Dr. Cupp has created vigorous treatment options for each one of my recurring retinal detachments. Dr. Cupp continues to take the time to listen to all my concerns and visual symptoms. He continues to collaborate with me and remains hopeful with my new vision challenges. I can't thank him enough!! Vision loss or distortion is a scary thing in of itself, but with the team of Dr. Cupp, Joseph and all the staff I feel fortunate to have them as the retinal specialist in Northern California!!

Showed up with no appointment. Got my retina fixed with a laser. Everyone I interacted with was caring, knowledgeable, and professional. What more can you ask for.

I had my appointment last Wednesday. I waited about a 1/2 hour or so past my appointment time which was about on par for Dr's offices in general. I was seated with a med tech who started to have me read a chart test with both eyes which was self explanatory but then she went straight into wanting to put eye drops into my eyes without explanation. When I asked, she said they were to dilate my eyes. I haven't seen a Dr yet but they wanted to dilate me. I asked why are we dilating my eyes? She asked me if I knew what I was here for. I said yes I do. She said the Dr needed to have this done so she could have a better look at what's going on. Then she moved me into another room to watch a video about an injection which left me feeling very uneasy. I watched a 2 minute video about an injection of something into the blood stream that is supposed to light up my blood vessels but with a laundry list of potential health side effects that could happen. Another tech pulled me into a room just before it ended and asked me if I had any question on the video before we inject you. I asked so this could make me sick? She said yes but it rarely happens which didn't make me feel good about it. I said I'll pass until I see the Dr about it. She got irritated with me and said again this rarely happens and threatened that I wouldn't be able to talk to the Dr unless I comply and that this problem I have is only going to get worse. Not sure if she even knew what my problem was since I hadn't been to that office before. This was some kind of fear tactic with borderline harassment. I paid my copay so I could consult with the Dr but was denied because I felt uneasy about taking something I wasn't sure of. She left the room and told me to go back to the front desk. I was very disappointed. I rescheduled for another appointment at another office but I think I'll just cancel that. There's no personal care given here. Maybe the Drs are better if you can get past the callous minions that know nothing about you and are just told to do these things to the patients as part of a initial protocol. I don't like it. Ultimately, I paid money to have my eyes dilated and be harassed by a med tech.
