I am visiting Alabama from Michigan. At home I go at least one meeting daily. When I arrived, Central Office was the first place I found where I could go to a meeting daily and not have to drive around and find several different meeting locations. I love the weekly format of the Noon meetings (which I attended except Saturday and Sunday I attended, at the suggestion of another recovering alcoholic, the 10am meeting). I love that every day is something different, I was able to study both the 12 & 12 and the BB as well as listen to an open talk and have meetings where a topic was picked or suggested by another person in the fellowship. I felt very welcome, I am fairly shy around new people anywhere, however, I felt so comfortable I was able to share openly about my own experiences since first coming to AA. I did not feel judged, I felt completely accepted. So, it is true, you can go anywhere in the world and find a meeting and a group of people who have been where you have been, who accept you unconditionally and make you feel welcome and loved. I have nothing negative to say about my experience while in the Huntsville area as far as the meetings. I am someone who needs to attend a meeting daily in order to feed my spirit and find peace in my mind instead of finding solace in a bottle, if only for 1 hour. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. :)
