I adopted a sweet female Kitten from St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter and she is the PERFECT kitten, even though she was a feral kitten, she is VERY social, friendly, cuddly, and energetic. The staff really cares about the work they do, they answered all my questions and were professional and caring! Will adopt from them in the future!

It was a sad yet wonderful experience dealing with the animal shelter. Sad because i had no other choice too locate our missing cat. The staff was so amazing, even the custodial lady, who got someone to come talk to me before they were even open. The ladies i have spoken with were so patient, understanding. Thank you everyone.

I deleted my original review after going through the adoption process and am starting over with a new one. We couldn't go into the facility to pick up the puppy because of social distancing restrictions so the first time we met her was outside the building- a little scary but she was adorable and well cared for and our fears disappeared when we saw her. The woman who helped us was kind and she clearly loves the animals and her job. Thank you for helping Birdie find her furever home.

We only do rabies at the St Charles Parish Animal Shelter. You can come in Monday through Friday 10:30-3:30 with no appointment necessary. All other yearly vaccines would need to be done through your local vets office.
Each parish has their own municipal shelter. You would need to contact your local St John Shelter. If you call and leave a voicemail they will call you back.
Yes! We have a free TNR program. Call the shelter at 985-783-5010 for more info.
We can also assist in closing the circle by helping trap mom and dad. Please call the shelter Monday-Friday 8:30-4 at 985-783-5010.
Yes. We have a bench out front dedicated to donations.
We do not offer shots to publicly owned dogs. The dogs we adopted out are fully vetted and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. They are also on monthly heartworm prevention. Our adoption fee is $80.
Much better if you go in person, not all available dogs are on their Facebook page.
We are municipal and only intake from within our parish. If you are living in St Charles Parish, bring your ID and we can intake. Otherwise, you would need to go to your local shelter.
We do from time to time.
We do not. We recommend getting from your local Home Depot etc. If infested we recommend LA Wild for removal.
We offer a Trap Nuter Release program for outside cats within the parish. All other spay/neuter as we work with LASPCA for low cost. Please give the shelter a call to get pricing and to schedule. 985-783-5010.
We do weekly orientation on Wednesday’s at 10am. It last around 1 hour and after completed you can go behind the scenes and volunteer. In order to keep your orientation current you can not let your volunteering lapse over 4 months otherwise you will be asked to renew orientation. Orientation covers protocols on how to properly disinfect between animals so not to spread any disease within the shelter.
Our adoption fees for cats and dogs are $80 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, and age appropriate vaccines.
Sorry we do not offer those services.
State law does not allow this. You can look up rehabilitators in your area online.
Our local ordinances read that any dog can not be tied for more than half a day. Pit bulls can never be tied and when not accompanied by their owner must be in a pen within a fenced in yard, not loose.
We have no way of knowing what breed of dogs we will get in next. In the past it has been rare, but we do get them.
We always ask that our animals adopted out be returned to us should you no longer be able to care for them.
Free through our TNR program. You can come in for a trap and once trapped you can bring in any time Monday-Friday during open business hours.
