I adopted a sweet female Kitten from St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter and she is the PERFECT kitten, even though she was a feral kitten, she is VERY social, friendly, cuddly, and energetic. The staff really cares about the work they do, they answered all my questions and were professional and caring! Will adopt from them in the future!

It was a sad yet wonderful experience dealing with the animal shelter. Sad because i had no other choice too locate our missing cat. The staff was so amazing, even the custodial lady, who got someone to come talk to me before they were even open. The ladies i have spoken with were so patient, understanding. Thank you everyone.

I deleted my original review after going through the adoption process and am starting over with a new one. We couldn't go into the facility to pick up the puppy because of social distancing restrictions so the first time we met her was outside the building- a little scary but she was adorable and well cared for and our fears disappeared when we saw her. The woman who helped us was kind and she clearly loves the animals and her job. Thank you for helping Birdie find her furever home.

We only do rabies at the St Charles Parish Animal Shelter. You can come in Monday through Friday 10:30-3:30 with no appointment necessary. All other yearly vaccines would need to be done through your local vets office.

St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter | Sep 24, 2019

We do weekly orientation on Wednesday’s at 10am. It last around 1 hour and after completed you can go behind the scenes and volunteer. In order to keep your orientation current you can not let your volunteering lapse over 4 months otherwise you will be asked to renew orientation. Orientation covers protocols on how to properly disinfect between animals so not to spread any disease within the shelter.

yard is fenced, food and water where dog can get it. also a big tree that provides shade. Dog is on a chain. (He's gotten out of yard before hence why he's tied) Is it legal for Animal Control to take dog in this case if they drive past and see him.

Wynter Phoenix | Sep 24, 2018
St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter | Sep 24, 2019

Our local ordinances read that any dog can not be tied for more than half a day. Pit bulls can never be tied and when not accompanied by their owner must be in a pen within a fenced in yard, not loose.

Do the animal shelter have lockers for that volunteer's?
