Stayed there 2 years ago but never again; first room was very musty smelling, moved us to another room next to balcony. our window had a hole and the cigarette smoke from a guest sitting on balcony smoking funneled into our room. weather turned cool and there was no heat but staff did procure electric heaters for all rooms. there was zero hot water, could only take a very cold shower. we never did get a refund because none of the staff knew how to make one. we found a hotel in Cherokee and finished our vacation there. a hot shower was worth losing the money there.

Ever been to a place where you feel like you're going to get drugged and wake up chained in the basement? No? Visit Jarrett House and I promise you'll feel exactly how I did. The atmosphere and ambiance was old and creepy. No music was played and the restaurant was completely silent with black and white pictures of people coating the walls. If that doesn't make you cringe, then the food surely will. Instant mash potatoes and cafeteria style meat loaf for the LOW price of $17.95 should brighten your experience. The bathrooms were dirty: paint peeling and rusty faucets. Frankly the staff doesn't care either. And to top it all off, the service was god-awful. Avoid like the plague unless you like getting ripped off.

I believe that the Jarrett House is under new management. They have done some renovations and it looks good. They have gone back to bringing bowls of whatever they are serving that meal and refilling when needed. The day we were there, they had fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, beans, stewed apples, potatoes, creamed corn, fried okra, onion casserole, and biscuits. The vidalia onion casserole and the apple dessert were the stars of the meal. The fried okra was pretty good. The rest of the offerings was just ok. Nothing was as hot as you would expect. The fried chicken wasn't crispy at all. Over all, not the experience that we have come to expect here. As I said, I think that there is new management. Hopefully, they will address these issues and get back to their own high standards.

Found this inn online, thought we would give it a try. If you have to have all the extras than look elsewhere, the stairs creek, the doors stick, the faucet might drip, and you have to wait for the hot water to arrive!! If you want history, stories and time to slow down and enjoy the company of the folks you are traveling with, than this is the place for you!!!! This is a very old inn that holds wonderful history!!! It is loaded with antique furniture that adds to the charm. Porches are loaded with rocking chairs for you to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or an evening chat with friends and family. We were able to get a room with 3 full size beds so we could all stay in the same room!! Had tons of space for all 6 of us!!! The inn could use some updates but we did get the chance to meet the owner and they are in the process of completely updating the guest rooms. Free continental breakfast was simple but nice. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Can't wait to return and see what they have done with the place.
