Master Inhindsight
Typically I like going to the library but today I felt harassed by the security /officers (blue shirt guys) while there. It was about 650pm and the library closes at 7pm. Something I'm aware of and Something that was announced several times over speaker.Despite this, a police officer still felt the need to walk over to me( stood about 5-8 ft away) and ask/state "You do know we're "closing up any minute now?" I turned to him and shook my head yes. I continued to sit down and use my personal computer as it was not 7pm or even 659pm for that matter. More like 655pm. As I'm walking out the building and texting on my phone I pass an officer conversing with a librarian. I stop for a brief second,to look out window and keep moving,officer immediately says "Ma'am we're closing now in an agitated tone." I laugh and say I know I'm heading out and point to door which is around the corner. The folks at the library are used to dealing with the homeless population and they assume the approach they use to deal with them whether necessary or not is how any and everyone should be dealt with. They need to check themselves and do better. Some people come to the library sply to use it no matter what their appearance may be.

Just what a library ought to be, serving the public with knowledgeable staff willing to help anyone and accommodate all teams of needs in the mission to grant people access to learning. The space itself is pleasant and open, the facilities comfortable... just a nice place to go. There's nowhere I can think of more accepting and open to anyone and offering so many services regardless of race, social status, gender or any other identity. The grounds surrounding the library are beautifully maintained, full of lovely flowers and nicely cared-for plants and trees. The woman who maintains them all is doing it solo, and does a wonderful job-- it's always beautiful on the library grounds where the plants grow 🪴

I DON'T KNOW THE TIME IT OPENS BUT I'M SURE IF YOU CALL THEM THEY WILL GIVE YOU SOME KIND OF INSIGHT ON WHEN IT OPENS.

Hello and thank you for your message. There are two payphones available, one on the first floor of the downtown Central Library near the main entrance at Washington Street and one on the second floor (the Gallery floor) near the restrooms.
