After trying and failing twice to get my son's car registered at the Yarmouth RMV I was able to get an appointment on the Vineyard. Both women working were knowledgeable, helpful and so efficient at their jobs. Couldn't have had a better experience and will be going there from now on.

It's a DMV what do you expect

Mine was a long (45 minute) wait, but well worth it, after completing the requisite paperwork for a ""real ID" over 16 months ago. The two representatives at our local RMV office were clearly frustrated because of a week-long computer malfunction, but they were both sincere and straightforward about the services they might yet be able to provide. And, bless, them, they did so! Kudos, also, to attendant Matt, who had to deliver bad news to the folks who were waiting but who needed to reschedule because of the malfunctioning computers.

Would leave zero stars were it offered as an option; on hold for over 45 minutes for a simple question and never reached a human nor offered an opportunity to leave a message or receive a callback (which I'd say were standard in customer service circa 2005). Updated 7/20/21: Since my initial review in 2019 I've had two excellent in-person experiences at the Martha's Vineyard RMV location. The folks working there could not have been more helpful or friendlier. HOWEVER- the RMV organization overall continues to boggle the mind as it seems to have been designed to befuddle and inconvenience rather than serve its intended "customers." Twice now they have failed to send out notices of registration renewal, there is no email address to reach a person in writing with questions, and each time I've waited it out to get a human on the phone has required more than an hour. The website is dysfunctional and does not allow the performance of even basic services for anyone without a MA ID. Overall, I'll increase my rating to two stars, for the good work of the individuals at the MV RMV, but shame on the overall organization for being so anti-customer.

Yes, just go to the website
Can be done online.
The registration for the car. You'll have to say you need new plates. Not sure about the title if youre the owner
The way I understand it, as long as your travel does not include going to Puerto Rico or Canada a standard ID is sufficient.
You will have to take and pass a driving test. Or you could get an international driving license, I suppose, as we Americans do for many countries overseas.
I' m not really sure but I would go on line first and see if you could download it. If not the RMV would have it I'm sure. Very nice people.
Can I make an appointment to renew my licence. What paperwork do I need to bring?
