A hidden gem for anyone looking to get into birdwatching or interesting in inviting more wildlife into their yard. The ladies in the shop are extremely helpful & there is a little observation deck upstairs

We visited on a Thursday but the main building was closed. Nearby trails looked neglected. I was really looking but didn't see any signs of life except a few Robin's. Bird feeders were deserted, and no feed in them. Not sure if this place is regularly staffed or is open only during specific events. Disappointed.

Due to storms the roads in the vicinity are closed. I would stay off the trails because of falling branches.

I have been feeding the birds in my yard all year, and for the past week or so none have been going to the feeder as it is still full. The squirrels and chipmunks are eating what is on the ground, but I don't see any birds. Why is this happening?

You might have a predator in the area. A Coopers Hawk or a house cat could be stalking the birds at your feeder. You might not see the threat, but the birds do.

Found 3 (not even the size of a quarter) orphaned squirrels yesterday. Left them outside for 6 hours, until it started to rain, then brought them inside. Where can I take them?

I would call your local animal control. They should be able to direct you to the closest appropriate division.

How can I donate an Audubon Folio of Great Bird Paintings by George Dock Jr copywrite 1964 that was in my family since then?

Call the refuge office. The education department might be interested in the bird paintings book.

Hi, I have been in the same house for over 40 years & I have been feeding crows every morning...they have always been here everyday. About a month or so ago they stopped coming. I have not seen one in that time. Any idea why? I am in Northern NJ

There was a huge fire in Bergen County last week that was very close to a large crow roost. I have not heard any news from that area since, but crows are very intelligent and highly social, and an event like that...well it wouldn't surprise me at all if that might disrupt the crow population in other local areas too. It's possible.
