We went early May to look at all the birds and we were very surprised, not many mosquitoes. I could actually get out and walk the road! This place has Eagles, Owls and lots of other birds. I love this place.

It's a nice campsite with some fishing nearby and nice trails. Dont forget to bring your mosquito repellent tho

I've been going out to Santee Coastal reserve for years. I've done the 7 mile Cape Trail it's a big double track out to the intercoastle waterway all the way over to the North Santee shore line and back. You can do these trails with either Cyclo Cross bikes or Mountain Bikes Or hike it.. Some sugar sand pits. Lots of Gators. If you go out close to March be sure to spray down with Deep Woods off as the Mosquitoes will swarm you. One thing you'll find after getting out 2 miles out is so very quiet. Lots of wildlife and birds Lots of birds and Gators . If you camp it's totally primitive. I like it. You bring it with you here and prepare or you'll do without. This is raw Coastal wilderness. No water,no bathrooms. Again this is Primitive camping. For me I Back pack so for me this place is great. Go in prepared. 😉 Enjoy!

I thought it was just beautiful, lots of hiking and biking... Pack out what you bring in..the place was clean..very impressed... probably won't go back again until winter the mosquitoes were vicious...
