Whitney is amazing. The best DMV employee I've ever talked to. She was very patient with me and answered all of my questions and was very informative.

There wasn't anything on the website indicating apt only at this time. I get there, and there is no one at the front desk. A worker comes from the back and ask do I have an apt, (rudely, like she's annoyed that I'm standing at the desk) I tell her no and before I can say anything else, she says we're only taking apt today and probably for the rest of the week. It would've been nice to know you only take walk ins on certain days.

The staff are extremely rude. They sigh, roll their eyes, wont make eye contact, they basically treat you like you are less than them. They will try to find ANY reason to send you away.. Luckily, they failed with me.. I had triple checked all of my paperwork before arriving. They still tried to send me away though. The woman working the counter said the order that my name was written on my marriage license was incorrect. The state I am from wrote it that way... I had no control of that... I wonder if they like to be treated so horribly when they go places.... For such a small office, it would be pretty easy to narrow down who all these reviewers are talking about. I don't understand why these same complaints continue. The DMV puts a hold on people moving forward in life. We have to wait months for appointments or walk in and be told to leave. This is ridiculous that these reviews continue.

I am new to North Carolina so I checked the location of the nearest DMV and read the reviews. I found that whoever wrote the review concerning Whitley was more than correct. What a lovely person. She is very patient and considerate! Also the examiner in booth 4 was very kind. Such a breath of fresh air especially as a new resident.

Yes. You just pay $40 & have to show proof of address. Make sure you bring in paper copies so they can scan it. You will also have to take a sight and sign test.
Can you get your id if your in a different county?
Reapply for real ID again
I got there around 9:30 and they had no more walk-ins available
Yes. When I got my NC drivers license, they gave me a paper copy of what my license would look like, photo and all, told me to use that until the real thing came in the mail...about two weeks.
All you have to do is call your local office and give them the information and they will guide you, don't even have to there?
Your gonna have to go to your local dmv office early has possible.
(Moorseville, NC) No...i went 2 weeks ago and didnt have an appointment. Not sure about others.
Yes, you would
No other test would have to be done. My license was expired and I had it renewed like if it was up-to-date. 🙂
I'm not an Employee of the DMN. I'm sorry but I do know a Lady who has people allowing her to drive their vehicles for the experience and after so many hours of driving she is allowed to come in a receive her license, but the person signing has to be a Licensed Driver.
Yep
You can do it online at skiptheline.ncdot.gov or go to the office and they will schedule an appt for you. Earlier this week appts were already into mid November
You can do it online.
Yes
No tax office
NO
30 days usually.
You can take courses from a private driving school.. but it has to be an NCDOT approved school for you to get your permit and license
Drivers can renew their license up to six months before it expires at any NCDMV driver license office.
Yes, they do. Cash, debit and credit cards.
Yes
Two items that show your current address. A utility bill or insurance statement ate some examples. They have a list of acceptable items on their website.
You pay them at the DMV Tag office on Main Street. Not the one on Patterson Ave. North Carolina has these two divisions separated. The tag offices are privately owned, where as the DL offices are still state ran.
Where are you moving from
First have proof of ins., drivers license from your other state. And proof of address. If you want the real I'd, bring social security card, birth certificate or valid passport. If married bring marriage certificate. License is $40 Not sure regarding tags, but probably some of the same thing apply like ins and identity items.
I don't think you need to wait all the way until it expires but I would recommend making an appointment at least a few months ahead of time and they can probably advise you on how soon you can go ahead and do it.
You can go to any location in NC.
This one does. All license offices will. Just be sure you bring all of the required documents with you to verify your identity and address. The price is the same, $40.
Night time is 9pm to 5am.
