Great store for woodworking needs. I've shopped and taken classes here for years. Very fortunate to have this a short drive from my home.

They sell 'fantasy' tools, for old retired guys to spend their life savings on. After you purchase $25,000 of tools you can build a jewelry box or a candle holder or some sort of small useless cabinet. The romantic days of woodworking are long gone.

As a total woodworking newbie, walking into a speciality store like this one could be very very intimidating. The staff has made the environment as welcoming as possible and kept it very professional. All my questions were answered to details and I’ve learned a lot from the visits. I’m very glad I picked up my Sawstop with the help from the professional staff member. This place will definitely be my woodworking store. Great people. Highly recommended.

Pretty cool place, but don't expect construction type tools.

Hello. You can sign up for our email newsletter on our website here: https://www.highlandwoodworking.com/. We are hoping to bring back classes in the near future.

I went there 2 weeks ago from North Carolina. Awesome Festool Section
We don't, but the Viking website has a 'where to buy' section: https://www.vikingarm.com/where-to-buy/
May 19th, 2021 UPDATE: We are now open for indoor shopping. ---- During the pandemic, we are continuing to ship all tool orders received online and via phone, and we are providing curbside pickup for our local customers. Our retail storefront will remain closed until at least May 19, 2021. Our main concern is the health and safety of our employees and our customers. More than half our employees have worked here for over 20 years, so perhaps it is not surprising that the majority of us are also over 60 years old, unfortunately putting us in the vulnerable high risk category for COVID-19. We want to keep them healthy so they can continue to help fill orders and answer questions for all of our customers. We look forward to the time when it will feel safe for us to reopen the retail store. In the meantime we are especially grateful for your patience and understanding.

Bandsaw blades require tension to operate successfully and that consumer grade bandsaws have ways to alter blade tension, albeit with mechanisms that are not particularly accurate for setting to a "measurable" tension setting. In the real world, this matters little for woodworkers with their shop bandsaws. The tension to set a blade to is a factor of its width and thickness first and foremost. Narrower blades have a thinner cross section of steel to withstand stress and thicker bands require more tension to get taut enough to cut properly. Most of us use the hash mark settings on our saws as a general guide and starting place and perhaps error on the side of a lower setting at first and incrementally increase tension as we observe the blade running (and how it cuts). With practice, you can learn to use a finger poke to gauge tension when setting up a blade.
When we start offering classes again which at the current moment is TBA, we usually have them about 3-4 times a week on weeknights and weekends. The prices vary from $30-$300 or more depending on who is teaching the class (I.e if Roy Underhill is in town). All all of pricing can be found on each class listing on the Highland Woodworking. Website.
We've been open since 1978. This is our 42nd year in business. We started out as Highland Hardware and then changed to Highland Woodworking in 1995. It is still owned and operated by the same family.
They don't usually deal with JET tools anymore. They used to but give them a call and see if they can help.
We don't have any specific classes for making walking sticks, but we do have a beginning turning class where you can learn the techniques that will help you to make a walking stick on your own. https://www.highlandwoodworking.com/wood-turning-classes.aspx
They do not but can refer you out to others that do. Know they send a lot to Keen Edge.
Dont think that something theyd carry. They are very focused on woodworking tools and equipment.
