Very friendly staff and clean facility

Excellent animal shelter for the amount of animals that they have to take care of they do a wonderful job I got my best friend and my dog Franny from there so if you need a good friend and a good dog go there and see what you can get their adoption fees are very reasonable in fact they asked me how much I wanted to pay for the adoption and since they were spaying the animals as well as getting her set up for shots I figured $120 is reasonable but I believe they'll take quite a bit less

Friendly staff helped us successfully adopt our beagle

Got my sweet kitty named Scotch from here! It was super easy to adopt! They gave us a voucher for his first vet visit to a few places. They gave us some medication he was taking at the time. He was neutered at this location. Dorchester told us he was 2 year old but the vet said he was actually 10-12 months HAHA but anyways very happy with our kitty 💕

Sure, as long as you are together, we can partner you with the volunteer duty that works for you!
If you live in Charleston County, you can get free spay and neuter certificates.
Charleston Animal Society told me I couldn't bring my current dog. She went on to tell me that shelter life is stressful and the dogs would be too stressed for a fair meet and greet.
Yes of course, we have an arrange of tasks that can suite all.
They have many breeds of dogs. And many senior days who need a for ever home
You can always check their website, at: https://dorchesterpaws.org to see their available adoptions. As of right now, it looks like there is a Mary listed under dogs!
I'm looking for chihuahua puppies dose anyone know we're some are? Even if it's not a puppy I just want a chihuahua to be real ,,
You have to have an appointment to drop off.
I have a small dog that I'll have to drop off. He'd be a great dog if he had a fenced in yard but I've got so many complaints that if I don't take him there I'll get kicked out.
You can, it is a $125 fee per cat though for owner surrender.
Hi Judith, yes we do! We have an Animal Care Technician position and an Adoption Counselor position that does just this. If you would like to explore either, please visit our website and go to the "about" tab and click on "jobs."
You will have to call them and ask them
Sometimes
You will need a trap. You can either get one yourself at a local tractor supply place or call dorchester animal control or Pet Helpers to borrow a trap.
I believe 17or18 maybe younger with parents approved
The shelter will definitely take the cat. Just have to call. I found a stray a few weeks ago and they took her in.
It's going to be okay.
Puppies (Under 6 months): $350 & up Dogs (6 months – 6 years): $150 & up Senior Dogs (Over 6 years): $50
Please come visit us between 12-5pm to reclaim your animal. You will need to bring with you your ID, and proof of ownership. (Vaccination/vet records, photos).
We have 129 animals on campus and 236 animals on our care. We rely on fosters and offsite adoption partners as our campus can only hold 80 dogs and 101 cats. We take in nearly 4,000 animals per year.
Dorchester Paws currently does not have a public spay/neuter clinic. We hope to offer this at our new facility in the future.
Just like Miss Barb said go to Dorchester Paws and talk to them about volunteering drop off explain your situation
I do not know. I know that Animal Shelter off Remount Road will. Call them both and make sure before taking the Mom to be. Hope this helps.
Animal control
I would also post this on Facebook.....in the search section type in: "Lost and Found Pet" There is a group called Lost and Found Pet Project of Summerville SC Also, you might wanna call DORCHESTER PAWS on the phone... Respectfully, Nicole
No they don't but you may want to check with Berkeley county animal rescue
Hello Catherine, After asking different shelters, Dorchester Paws, and different veterinarians, I have been told that Charleston Animal Society performs TNR services! https://www.charlestonanimalsociety.org/cat-trapping/ Hoping this helps!
They try to find the owners first after a certain amount of time the dog goes threw their process for adoption
For dogs: Puppies[under 6 months]: $350 Dogs[6 months - 6 years]: $150 Senior Dogs[over 6 years]: $50 ---- For cats: Kittens[under 6 months]: $100 Cats[6 months - 6 years]: $50 Senior cats[over 6 years, or special cases of cats who are FeLV, or FIV+]: $25 Barn cats: $25 ---- Dorchester Paws also has events where the adoption fees go down, and they also adopt through other businesses [such as PetsMart]. For more info, go to www.dorchesterpaws.org
Sorry I dont work there
You would need an appointment to surrender the animal. Do you have a friend or family member who could bring the animal in? If you are unable to come to the shelter please contact Animal Control for assistance.
We are an animal shelter and do not sell animals. We do get small dogs in frequently and you can check our website to see who is available for adoption.
Check with the local shelters and see if they have a catch and release program. They catch the feral animals, neuter or spay them, then release them back. It won't diminish the population but will stop it from growing.
Yes w when you do they going to ask for your ID and everything so they can call the owner and let the owner know that you found the dog
The information you seek (but not whether or not they have your poor lost cat) is all over their Facebook page. CLOSED while they are scrambling to evacuate and get animals safely relocated (preferably placed in living foster / furrever homes) during the dang storm. They need bodies to help .... anyone who may be able to...please read their FB page (in need of supplies like carriers and cages, etc.) and go directly to shelter...they are too busy to field phone calls. Hope you find your kitty.
Varies on age..breed..or if running a special...check the website and or call
No
Please go to the shelter in person and fill out a lost pet report.
This place should never have allowed me to adopt a sick animal. Then send the pup home with me with no medicine. It's just sickening to see the pup my family and I adopted to be in pain.
once chip and your dog decides to visit others in the neighborhood and gets dropped there again you pay a penalty fee if they call you to pick that dog up
Since animals are getting adopted daily, your best bet is to take a look at their website.
They get new animals daily. Their website has the most up to date list of available animals.
Their website has the most up to date list of adoptable animals. New animals are placed on the adoption floor daily so check often!
If you have lost a pet, you would need to visit the shelter in person and fill out a lost pet report. After that a staff member will walk you through the cat room to see if your cat is there. Good luck!
They do not. If you are in need of short term boarding for your pet, Westbury Vet Clinic, Central Veterinary, and My Three Dogs has boarding.
Breeds aren't really what is important its the dog in general.... Take your 11 year old to the rescue and meet some to see how they interact...i have a chihuahua mix, and two pit mixes that are amazing with my four year old.
we're maam
That would be animal control, not the SPCA
I doubt they are caring for animals other than the ones already there. And FYI: they refuse to return service animals to their handlers.
