I had the best experience this week at OCC! I just needed a front derailleur adjustment and thought I'd put them on my route on my way home (via bike). A very nice gentleman named Aimen (sp?) came out from behind the counter and said he could give it a quick look. After about 5 min, he had that thing dialed!! It has never shifted better up front. I enjoyed a cold ginger ale and then I was on my way. I couldn't be happier and I will most definitely be back, especially since I can incorporate it into my ride home! Nice work, OCC!

As of early 2020, continuing through now (April 2022) and indefinitely into the future, we do NOT have bike rentals. It sounds like Durham Cycles and The Bike Guy have rentals, and the city bike share Citrix Cycles/Cardinal Cycles is also an option.
We don't know of anyone renting tandems. Sorry. Hope you can find one out there.
Sandra, we do carry E bikes at the shop. In stock we have E bikes from Kona and Civia. We can also order then from Surly and Yuba for cargo options and and from Bianchi for road E bikes. Stop by anytime we are open to give some a ride.
Oak City services all types of bikes.
Hi Daryl. We sell rim tape at the shop. Come on by!
Bicycles with electric motors.
Hey Joyce, oak city does have a Surly Big Easy in stock (or they used to) but they carry a number of brands (check out their website for a full list) and can order in from a large catalog. As for buying, they do offer consignment but usually only up to $400 max sale price. Hope this helps!
We consign bikes at our discretion. Bikes need to have been purchased from a bike shop. We do not consign department store bikes. We cap the sale price of used bikes at $500 and start the pricing around $250. All bikes receive parts and labor that we recommend before being put on the sales floor so that we can warranty them for 90 days to the next owner. We take 25% commission plus parts and labor when the bike sales if you’d like to be paid in cash. If you’d like store-credit, we take 10% plus parts and labor. All bikes, regardless of condition must receive at least a basic tune up.
As of 2020, continuing through now (April 2022) and indefinitely into the future, we do not have bike rentals.
We do not accept "trades" but we do consign certain bikes (at our discretion) for up to $500.
