The first time I used this place, I was one minute late after curfew. I was forced to go home. They would not open the doors for me even though I knocked on the Windows during the "job interview training" lesson they were giving in the community area, which I really wanted to be at. They all ignored me and shocked the other clients living there but no one was allowed to open the door. I was forced to take my children back into the abusive situation. After that, CYS took my kids away from me and gave them to my abusive and alcoholic parents. Now we all have CPTSD. My husband and I won them back with lawyers. That was ten years ago. We find ourselves in need of shelter again now so my husband tried to get help for him and the kids. They advertise that they help both men and women in bad situations but they absolutely do not help men whatsoever. No men are even allowed to know the location for safety purposes of the other clients. What's worse is, when my husband was referred to them and he gave the secretary the story about being kicked out of another home by a person with a brain tumor that turns him into a raving monster and makes an entire family of children homeless over a dish in the sink, and attacked them physically and stole and disposed of all their things... She said, "that sounds more like a family problem than domestic abuse." She made light of the situation while turning him away for being male. We should really have people in authority of places like this upkeep their mental health. The mission is dissolved in beaurocracy. Same with safe Harbor. Same with new Bethany. We have to keep waiting for calls from referred shelters.

Thank you for helping a close friend of mine who I knew how to refer them to you because someone spoke at my school the other year. I truly appreciate you helping her with virtual counseling and talking with her when she filed a pfa.

Devi if you call 1800 799 SAFE they will direct you to the local office to get answers to your questions. Turning Point is the local office in the Lehigh Valley. I am pretty confident they offer counseling services as well as someone to talk too.
