My wife and I went to the Meijer Grape Road location Thursday 6/9 to purchase Deli meats they had specials on plus other grocery items. When we approached the counter we noticed all of their lights were off and the had a sign that read WE ARE CLOSED PERIOD. No further explanation was given. When my wife went to the service counter she was informed that they were closed because NOBODY SHOWED UP TO WORK. I have called the Meijer Home Office and spoke to the Director of that store location who informed me what I was told was INCORRECT. That the real reason they closed it was because the employees got INFECTED WITH COVID. I asked him why not inform your customers of that he said he didn't have to it was a corporate decision. I told him due to the highly contagious of this VIRUS all of your customers should be made aware of it so if they conducted business with the deli people they made need to be tested. He said they ware GLOVES AND FOLLOW SAFE DISTANCE. I told him okay but they don't ware MASKS. I asked him how many were infected he refused to answer. We spent money via gas to go shopping there and we left wondering why would MEIJER value their customers in such a NEGATIVE WAY.

Despite all the tribals with supply chain and corporate policy, this location is by far one of my favorite grocery stores. My entire shopping trip is determined by whomever is greeting me at the door, and their greeters are nothing but excellence. My favorite is Dave R , such a kind and heartwarming man that's genuinely excited to talk to everybody that comes in 😁 All the employees are just outstanding and it's a very clean location as well. Despite the shelves not being stocked all the time I find myself coming back because of the experience with employees. I'm not sure who is in charge but I applaud you you are hiring some great individuals.

My review got deleted (cute) so I’ll post it again. Shelves are never stocked and given they STILL close at 12 “due to covid” you’d think they have time to keep the product stocked, I guess they have time to delete negative reviews instead.

You should always wash your produce when you get it home or before consuming, regardless. Especially melons. Produce isn't always considered "ready to eat" as most is used in preparation of other foods. The glove debate continues
The reason employees are not required to wear gloves is because u are supposed to wash and clean your produce as opposed to deli meat
