Great trail! Nice surface, mostly shaded, not a lot of travel along roads, I loved the protected bridge crossing and the availability of water the whole way. It was a lovely way to sightsee in this area, spent over 4 hours leisurely checking it out. And nearly everyone we encountered said hello or gave a nod. Thanks for a great day.

For nature, cycling or just walking, it's just the place

There are always people walking or biking. I enjoyed spending free time taking a stroll to decompress. There is a dog park located between Princess and King street. That being said, on days when there is high traffic, there can be a lot of dog feces on the trail. There are days I walked the trail before work and ended up with feces on my shoe. The city workers fixed a problem with the bridge recently by putting a net up to stop whatever problem was there. Police regularly patrol the area by bike, on foot, and sometimes even a patrol vehicle. There are homeless people living in tents by the river and that is a concern as there are at least 5 tents. Families walk on the trail, that's not something kids should have to see. The city needs to open a state/city funded shelter for the homeless. The only shelters are christian oriented and not everyone is into that. There are some great views on the trail.

You could probably be fine on a road bike, but a hybrid would be a lot better.
