This was my second time at Sarge’s Deli and while it was good this time, the first time was better. Maybe it’s what I ordered. The matzoh ball soup was just broth and a matzoh ball, nothing else. Broth was good but the ball could have been fluffier. Pickles were great! As for the hot dogs, I didn’t realize that red onions are not in-fact raw red onions but instead onions cooked in a red sauce. I wish the waitress had said something because it wasn’t clear what it was on the menu. I would return for the pastrami sandwich though!

A bit pricey, but we'll worth it and the meat was a huge portion. It seems like they pickle their own pickles, too. Will definitely be back if I'm ever in NYC again.

I'm a native Jewish NYer who has also lived in Los Angeles, and I can assure you that there has never been potato bread to be found in delis or in anybody's traditional family table. You cannot bring your own bread. You should choose club or rye...you may never have eaten decent rye bread.
