I’ve been all over and the Tahoe area is one of my top places to ski! Sugar bowl has so many nice routes for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

Lots of great terrain, facilities and staff. Bathrooms are very accessible and convenient to find so you don't have to go up or down stairs in your ski boots to access. The snow conditions are well maintained making this a great, family friendly resort as well as a great place to explore and practice your ski skills. If you want to avoid crowds, pay less and have lots of terrain to explore this resort is a perfect option over the really big resorts around Lake Tahoe.

Do NOT take ski lessons at Sugarbowl! It's a joke and a waste of money. I signed up my 12 year old son for a 2.5 hour lesson for $230 for an intermediate level lesson. He's had at least 30 days over the years skiing blue runs and has been given intermediate lessons at other resorts without issue. Given the high cost for a short lesson, I thought I would get a high caliber lesson. How wrong I was. During check in I immediately saw that they did not have enough kids for an intermediate lesson so I asked if they could put him in an adult intermediate lesson instead. They said not to worry because they would assess his skill level and place him appropriately. After the lesson was over, I asked my son if he learned anything. He said "no" because they put him in a beginner lesson with one other child who had never been on skis before in his life. The entire lesson was focused on the beginner child. When I complained to the barely out of high school instructor, he proceeded to condescendingly tell me my son was not ready for anything other than green runs. I then complained to the manager of the children's ski school and he took down my name and number and said they would "investigate" the matter. They never called me to follow up on my complaint. If they did not have enough kids to justify an intermediate lesson, then they should have just told me and refunded my money. Instead they took my money and my child learned NOTHING. I feel robbed. Will never return to Sugarbowl ever again!

Lazy poor experience with child lessons beware , every other resort you drop your child with happy helpful employees they hand you a ticket and go fit them for gear and take them to their lessons , here there is a bunch of teenagers standing around and chilling while you have to walk your child stand in line for 30 mins and wait to get fitted for gear and there is only 2 employees and then you have to be there to do that for them then take your child to another location for the lessons!? They are sub par at best in this field compared to other resorts so plan on getting on the mountain late
