I think this particular Center for Anxiety location (Manhattan) is a SHAM. This is a bait-and-switch operation, as another reviewer implied (“Lori” 3 yrs), which in a health-care setting probably borders on medical malpractice. (All of the following occurred in April/May of 2022). I was clear from the start with both the phone interview and during the $250 scripted in-person intake appointment that I wanted to do a 1-2 week IOP Individual program (as advertised on the CfA website) with a weekly DBT group to follow. Molly - on the phone, and Meghan - during the in-person intake, both acted as if that was fine. Then after the intake I first got a call from Nicole (Drago, I’m assuming since she appears under these reviews as “Clinical Outreach Manager”), who said the team decided I should do a two week DBT group program, which I had no interest in, especially since it was online, and then Nicole said I couldn’t do something individually like that short-term, maybe I could do a 5-6 week program with like 2 sessions a week, and then taper off. She actually said to me, “Where did you get this idea that you could do this in 1-2 weeks?” I said, “Uhh - your website??" Seriously ?? She didn’t even know what the website advertised, nor had read the testimonials about the 1-2 week program. When I mentioned them she said, “I’m sure those people did IOP group programs.” Within a week someone else, to their credit (Stacy Berkowitz), followed up by phone to propose “other options,” and it came out that there is essentially no one available at that office to do an individual IOP program. She proposed that I come in once a week for four months. When I asked her how much that would be, she didn’t know. Since they did not have the product they advertised - that is the individual IOP program, the intake for which I paid $250, they should refund my money. (Another reviewer (“Lori”) also referred to this - ‘Took our $ and changed their policy mid-stream’). I could go on, but, in short, it feels like there are no adults working in this office. It’s disorganized, no one knows either the cost of anything, or the schedule of the DBT groups they are running (if they are in-fact running), and actually all of it casts doubt on the quality/integrity of the entire thing. I think the premise for the Center for Anxiety is based on good solid research, I was impressed with the thoroughness of the intake interview, and it’s possible that the sterling testimonials and/or reviews may be true at another location, OR were true before the pandemic at this Manhattan office, but after interacting with this office it’s also possible they may be fabricated, as another reviewer suggested (T. Ahn). The bottom line is, that this organization in Manhattan is not at all what they advertise, and this essentially constitutes FRAUD; Better Business Bureau, small-claims court type fraud. An extremely disappointing experience. Update: I was called by this office after writing the above review and they did refund my money for the initial intake, which I appreciated. I added a star because of this.

I have seen immense benefits in my life thanks to Center for Anxiety.I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of care. The clinical team does a lot of work to match you with a therapist who meets your needs and preferences. The intake was done with a licensed clinician and not an office staff member. Treatment was professional, high quality, empathetic, and compassionate. Worked with me to help submit superbills for out of network processing. All of the patient care specialists were kind, helpful, and focused on patient care.

What a waste of $250 for a scripted intake, timed exactly at 50 minutes. The psychologist looked as if she just got out of the classroom at university. I didn't feel any connection except to respond to question after question. Very remote intake. When I asked the pricing of further group, she was clueless. I had questions to ask about the program but was told time was up? There was no time for me to ask what I wanted. My needs regarding this program were not addressed. I had to pre pay for this intake and needed a bill to submit to insurance. When I asked about getting that bill receipt I was told to call their main line. No one picked up- I left a message. I was not impressed at all by the hammering of sensitive questions when I was already ridden with anxiety. So impersonal. Not for me. I did leave an email informing them I was not interested in pursuing any treatment thru them. Oh, this is my maiden name so if you say there is no client with this name, you would be correct. I do have the right practice. Do yourselves a favor, show some compassion when you order an intake. If this is any indication of your treatment protocol all I can say is, go somewhere else! TERRAP might be a better choice!

I've been impressed with my experience at CFA. From the professionalism of the patient care staff to the expert quality of the clinicians, they really do go the extra mile. I participated in the Daily Group IOP and individual sessions. Option of either in person or virtual. They had HEPA filters in waiting room and each therapy room and followed all COVID guidelines and protocols.

Questions & Answers

Do you offer inpatient services?

We do not offer inpatient services, however we have a great IOP (intensive outpatient treatment) program that can provide group or individual sessions five days per week to create a more comprehensive experience. Additionally, we have DBT groups and individual sessions that can be personalized to meet individual needs.

Do they give any anxiety medication with severe anxiety
