I reached out to this group in need of some advice and even though we weren't the right match, one of the managing partners took the time to talk with me and give me advice and recommendations for other firms that would be a fit. If they treat non-customers like they did me, I am willing to bet they treat customers exceptionally.

PARAGON was designed to specifically serve clients who are approaching retirement or who are already in retirement. Those clients typically can be described as the millionaire next door and have those funds in investable assets that would be managed by PARAGON either now, or in the near future, and desires a comprehensive wealth management approach that includes retirement income planning, tax planning, risk management, and estate planning. PARAGON has since expanded to include clients who simply want someone to manage their investable assets without the addition of financial planning. Those clients typically have a minimum of $100,000 in investable assets, though PARAGON’s fees for the services differ slightly. Please visit our Service Models and Fees page for more information.
We do not charge separately for planning services; those are included in the PARAGON client relationship. We do not do “one-off” financial plans for individuals who are not PARAGON clients, as this takes our attention away from providing the highest level of service to our clientele. We also do not allow clients to pay by the hour. While the idea of an hourly financial advisor may initially seem like a good idea, and certain radio personalities or internet journalists like to recommend it, it is in fact an inferior business model that we have abandoned. Our clients enjoy knowing that we are keeping an eye on economic developments, changes in laws, and their assets ALL the time, not just when we are “on the clock” for them individually or running around doing hourly work for other people. For a more in-depth discussion of our logic behind our fee structure please visit our Service Models and Fees page.
Yes. At a minimum, PARAGON’s advisors acquire the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. This credential acts as the foundation for a deeper level of competence, as well as requires those who hold the designation to act as a fiduciary. Please see our Philosophy page for more information on our commitment to our clients. The fiduciary standard is much higher than the “suitability” standard generally required of registered representatives of Broker/Dealers, insurance agents and bankers. This “suitability” standard only requires these non-fiduciary financial advisor’s recommendations to be “suitable” for your situation. They are not required to make you aware of other opportunities that may be better for you if they cannot sell it to you. A financial advisor acting as a fiduciary is legally obligated to make the best possible recommendation for your circumstances- even if it means losing business.
PARAGON is a fee-only wealth management firm with about $500 million in assets under management. We believe in a team approach to financial planning and pride ourselves in our excellent customer service, with our clients at the forefront of every decision we make. Our client relationship typically begins with fee-only investment management (we earn no commissions on any financial products of any sort). Some clients elect for the relationship to remain there, and arrange for PARAGON to only manage their investable assets, however, most client relationships build to include financial planning, retirement planning, retirement income/withdrawal planning, forward-looking tax planning, risk management, and legacy planning (also known as estate planning).
