Muffler Man (MM) R&R my a/c compressor on my 2007 Altima with 45,080 original miles since bought new. I specifically asked if my Serpentine built was changed as the vehicle is 15 years old and I never had it changed. Nick (says he is the owner) told me that if I needed a new belt he would have changed it. 18 days and 51 miles later, the belt broke in traffic. Lost pwr steering, alternator, and the engine began to overheat. Made it into a nearby repair station who charged me $133 to replace the broken belt. The original belt was still in the engine compartment and I was able to recover it(see photo) The belt was all dried out and cracked. Had the belt been inspected, a first-year apprentice would have known better to replace it. Muffler Man must not employ ASE certified mechanics. I am a retired Journeyman Diesel Mechanic who cannot believe how incompetent this repair station is......In fact when I first came to pick up the car I refused to take it because they left the velour driver's seat filthy. This is a very sloppy operation. My first and last time I will use them and I live real close....I'd rather do business with a competent shop.
