Fire Tower is closed, doesn't say why and no work is being done. The yellow trail is not as well makes as the red trail, in many areas the path will split into two well-traveled paths and neither path will have markers for a while. Otherwise very pretty, lots of wildlife, even found campers bathing in the park. Too bad the fire tower was closed.

Be aware the fire tower is closed. We drove all the way from Connecticut to do this and found out it was closed on arrival. You can still walk the trails but not the point.

This state forest in Austerlitz, NY has everything you could want. Plenty of parking, ponds, clearly marked hiking 🥾 trails, lean to with fire 🔥 pit and mega views from the top of a mountain & fire tower. We hiked up the blue trail and down the red trail in about an hour 😃🇺🇸🥳. Prolly a place Napoleon would like to call home 🤪🤣

You have to go up to hill for 1 mile view from the top is breath taking especially now when trees change colors
