My Service Dog of 13 years had just passed away. I brought over several hundred dollars of food, crates, beds collars harnesses and other items. A very sullen woman behind the desk said nothing to me. About 4 months later I went to look at kittens. I adopted a little girl and she was sick the day I got her. I took her back and asked them to have their vet get her healthy and I’d come back to get her. They said they don’t do that. I could take her to a vet at my expense even though she came to me sick, or I could give her up without any reimbursement. Terrible care, the little 3 month old kittens are kept in an uncarpeted room all the time day and night with just a couple of things to climb on, no beds and for 8 kittens there was 1 small litter box. No wonder they will only let you in by appointment They make sure the litter box is clean before you come in. My kitten was underweight when I got her as well as being sick. When you look at the reviews and 99% of them are all 5 star reviews the law of averages is way off. I will not recommend them to anyone. They do not stand behind their animals. I adopted from Forever Love Rescue and I would go back again. I’m sure this review will not be show cause it isn’t a 5 Star review.

I went there just to get a look at what dogs they had, not knowing I had to make a appointment before seeing the animals, though it didn’t say on their website that I had to make a appointment, the lady at the front desk was very unprofessional and absolutely rude, when telling me this.

I will come back for sure to adopt a dog again me and my family recently adopted a dog name caster aka Gable. Such a wonderful addition to the family he goes everywhere with us. Adam spca staff are wonderful. They got back to us right away and was super helpful. If I can give them 10 star ⭐️ I would. Thank you so much.

From what I understand they are a no kill shelter. They foster dogs. I was there when they brought in dogs of every variety from the hurricane that hit the Carolinas last year. They have many types of rescues that they partner with!

First off. Check your facts. This is why the internet is bad for stuff like this. There are multiple organizations involved right now and as of Sat there is an investigation underway into the situation. These things don't happen overnight, especially on a weekend. Give them a chance before jumping on the SJW bandwagon.

I believe they only do cats, dogs, and horses. Never seen anything else there, nor on their website. Try a local feed/farm store. Bowman's in Westminster, MD is a good option, and not too far.
I don't think they board animals while owners go out of town. There are a couple kennels in the area, and the average cost is $30 a day. Some a little more or less. Hope this is helpful.

They spay and neuter dogs at a large discounted fee by appointment. The fee is based on the dogs weight and age. I got my two small dogs, (then weigh 5-10lbs each), "fixed" and microchipped for a little over $100. They did a great job too. They also provide full vet services for discounted fees. I love the staff and how the care about the animals/community at Gettysburg SPCA. I will continue to be a loyal customer.
Yes, after attending a volunteer orientation. I think 14 is the age limit for cats and other small animals and 18 for dogs. The website has complete details.
